What times do the workshop run each day?

Most of the workshops take place on Saturday from 9am to 5pm and again on Sunday from 9am to 3pm. Each day, participants have one hour for lunch. We invite you to reserve a room in town and really designate this time to your relationship. Leavenworth offers several hotels and Air BnBs. If you are traveling in from outside of the Kansas City area, Leavenworth is located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Kansas City. Kansas City is known for the great Jazz and delicious Barbecue.

What is included in the price?

The listed price for the workshop is per couple or family, not per person. The price includes presentation, assistance during private conversation, the workbook, light snacks and drinks both in the morning and afternoon. Lunch and lodging is not included in the price.

The price of the Hold Me Tight® Premarital Edition also includes the Prepare-Enrich Premarital Assessment and one follow up session.

Where is the workshop located?

The workshop is located in the historic AXA Building in Leavenworth, Kansas. The building was constructed in the Spring of 1905 and has served as the centerpiece of the downtown Leavenworth business district. Built to be the home to physicians and attorneys, the building is 2 1/2 stories with a 1 1/2 story arched entryway showcasing the staircase which resembles the famous staircase in the movie, “Titanic.” Currently, the building is home to several businesses, including several therapy and counseling practices and consulting firms. The AXA building is on the National Registry of Historic Places.


Is there parking available?

Street parking is available along with parking is designated parking lots. Please see The Map for designated parking areas.

Is there a limit to the number of participants?

The workshop is limited to 7-10 couples depending on demand.

Do I need to read the book prior to the workshop?

While reading the book would enhance your experience, it is not required. If you would like to read the book prior or after the workshop, the book can be purchased here: AMAZON link.


What is Emotionally Focused Therapy?

Is the workshop confidential?

We ask that participants respect the confidential nature of the workshop. We ask that couples do not talk about other couples outside of the workshop to maintain the privacy of the workshop participants.

Am I required to talk during group time?

No, you are not required to talk during the group time. While you are invited to talk and space will be give to you for sharing, we believe in the “pass or play” philosophy.


Is this workshop appropriate for same sex relationships?

Yes, this workshop is appropriate for same-sex couples, couples of different cultures, races, sexual orientations, sexual identities and religions. Attachment does not discriminate based upon differing backgrounds, and neither do we.

My partner does not want to come. Can I come alone?

While it is most productive if your partner can attend with you, you are allowed to come alone. You are welcome to process the private conversations with a helper.

Who should not attend this workshop?

This workshop is not appropriate for couples who are experiencing active abuse, addiction or affairs. This workshop can begin the healing process for couples who have experienced these contraindications in the past.
